Steven G Innes

Steven studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture from 1995 – 2002 while working in private practice and continued to work in the private and public sectors before joining the McLennan Partnership in 2006 and becoming a Director of the practice in 2008. He is an ARB registered chartered architect and a member of both the RIBA and the RIAS. Steven’s energetic approach and enthusiasm has benefitted the further development of the Practice and he has implemented a number of significant changes to the running of the business including the implementation of an office Quality Management System which led to formal accreditation (QMS – BS EN ISO9001) in June 2009 and Environmental Accreditation (BS EN ISO14001) in March 2011.
Steven’s hands on approach to project running typically results in him forging close professional relationships with clients, contractors and the other design team members, during the successful delivery of his projects. His strengths include carefully analysing the design brief, interpreting requirements, offering design concepts, presenting proposals, undertaking consultation with stakeholders and developing detailed designs, together with directing the design team in the preparation of co-ordinated production information, drawings and specifications before leading the team through the construction phase.
Steven is experienced in the commercial, industrial, health care and higher education sectors having successfully completed a large number of new build projects as well as a number of complicated adaptations of existing buildings, including the refurbishment & conservation of listed historic buildings which are undoubtedly a major strength of the McLennan Partnership Ltd.
Steven’s project work is combined with practice management roles, including business development, Quality Management and training / CPD ensuring the continued development of all staff members. Steven’s other architectural interests include being a council member and Practice/CPD Convenor of the Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) and acting as employment mentor to the staff members preparing to sit their Part 3 professional examination.
